About ALEKS Math

We build open, intuitive, and research-backed test preparation resources to help students prepare for college math placement tests and bypass unnecessary remedial classes.

Our Mission

Democratizing Mathematics Placement Readiness

Every year, hundreds of thousands of incoming college freshmen take the ALEKS Math Placement Assessment (ALEKS PPL). Too many are placed into developmental, non-credit math courses simply because they are rusty on high school algebra concepts they haven't practiced in months.

Remedial courses cost regular tuition dollars, delay graduation, and drain student financial aid without conferring college degree credit. We created ALEKSMath.com to give students the focused, zero-cost diagnostic tools they need to brush up on high-yield topics, take realistic adaptive practice exams, and achieve their target placement score on their first or second proctored sitting.

How We Approach Placement Prep

Four foundational principles guide every practice question, formula guide, and explanation we publish.

01

100% Free & Open Access

We believe quality test preparation should never be locked behind expensive subscription paywalls. All practice questions, scoring calculators, downloadable formula PDFs, and domain guides are completely free to all learners.

02

Open-Response Computational Rigor

Unlike traditional multiple-choice prep sites, our simulator emphasizes authentic free-entry problem solving. Because the real ALEKS assessment requires typing exact numeric answers and graphing equations, we train students for the actual test format.

03

Knowledge Space Theory Alignment

Our curriculum mirrors the 6 core domains evaluated by McGraw-Hill's adaptive algorithm: Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, College Algebra, and Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry.

04

Institutional Transparency

We research and publish real placement cutoff benchmarks from public universities and community colleges across the country, showing students the exact scores needed for College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus I.

Editorial Standards & Mathematics Expertise

Content on ALEKSMath.com is developed and continuously audited by experienced mathematics educators, STEM peer tutors, and curriculum specialists. Every worked example and problem explanation undergoes rigorous peer review to ensure mathematical correctness, clear pedagogy, and alignment with modern college placement expectations.
